A little less to do I emailed Minami(who is a member of AIESEC Hiroshima) the other day to find out about accommodation and medical insurance. In AIESEC Sheffield, if we have a trainee coming to work in a company in Sheffield we would put them up in one of our houses while we help them find somewhere to live. I asked her if this was the same in AIESEC Hiroshima and it turns out that there is already some accommodation that I can have. I have also bought a new digital camera, so expect to see some photo's shortly. The company that I am working for already has a trainee working for them, who I will be taking over from come November. He has a place that I can have, because he leaves when I arrive. I hope the place is nice and quite close to work. There would be nothing worse than living somewhere I don't like that is not near to main bit of the city. Also the company pays the rent, I am not sure if this is taken out of my wages or is something extra. The other thing that is important is medical insurance. If I became ill whilst I was out there it would be extremely expensive to get treatment. Also the company are paying for that, am starting to like the company a lot!! I have to phone up my doctor tomorrow to see if I need to get any jabs before I go away. I read somewhere that I may need a typhoid jab, but not too sure on that one. I bought a camera today, the Sony Cyber-shot DSC-P100S Digital Camera, I haven't had a digital camera before and didn't use my old APS one much because of the high price of films and processing. Hopefully the new camera will work out quite economically even though it is a large initial outlay. I am planning on putting the photo's up on here as its a bit boring at the moment. It will be here in a few days, so I will be able to test it then.
Opening a Japanese bank account. I started to sort a few things out for Japan. I figure the more that I do now the easier it will be when I get there. I went into town to go to the Bank. One of the most important things that I will need when I am living in Japan is a Bank account. I have a bank account with HSBC and as they are an international bank they are able to open an account for me before I go. I also need to inform the student loan company before I go and get some jabs.Turns out I could not open an account today as they need my passport as identification. The lady that I spoke to

It seems strange that I will not be going back to Sheffield for a year or so. Driving over the snake pass on Sunday evening was very weird, knowing that I will not be going back for a while. I will not miss the studying but I will miss the people and the city. Thanks for a good weekend guys.Still no work permit and I am starting to get slightly worried. It takes a week to post it from Japan so that leaves 3 weeks spare, not a long time in the grand scheme of things. I have an apartment in Hiroshima!! Its getting closer everyday and there is sooo much to do. I haven't started to worry too much but time does seem to be going rather fast. Still no work permit, will have to chase that up. I have been in touch with the Colin, who is the guy whose job I will be taking over when I get to Japan. I can have his apartment and all the stuff in it(for a price) which leaves one less thing to worry about. Its a one room apartment - I think, not sure it has a separate bedroom but has its own washroom and shower.

It was freshers week last week and on the Friday was recruitment day for Aiesec Sheffield at the Freshers Society's Fair. When I arrived they were easy to find as they had poached the stall closest to the door. Apparently they managed it because the organiser thought they were really keen for being there really early so gave them the best stall. I don't think I would have missed them anyway as they were wearing blue body paint-all to do with the recruitment slogan of "who is the blueman?" They all seemed so enthusiastic and had way more energy than me. By the amount of people they signed up, I am sure this year is going to be even better than last year for Aiesec Sheffield. In true Aiesec style a band of us went out that evening, it had to be the Harley, which turned into something of a regular haunt for us last year. Have taken a few photos which I will get up on here soon. We headed off into town and ended up in Bar Matrix till the early hours.Again on Saturday night, John was back in Sheffield and we ended going to Aqua in Ponds Forge which is so much like Pop Tarts but with less class.

Yep, still no work permit and the flight is booked for 2 weeks today. I might have to postpone the flight for a month or so whilst I wait for the work permit. Its not all bad, I get to spend more time with friends and family. Hopefully the next post will be from Japan... or Noosa.. Goodbye Sheffield The weekend came and went but I managed to go to Sheffield for the last time in a while. Finally I am awake enough to write about it, caught a mild version of freshers flu!!(I didn't go near any of them, honestly)and have been asleep all week. Being a member of Aiesec Sheffield I wanted to go back and see everyone before I leave.
